Customer Story
How a CNC Machining Company Resolved a Lost Shipment Before Holiday Shutdown
Project Type: Custom Jewelry Components
Market: United States
Challenge: Lost Shipment Before Holiday Shutdown
The Situation: An Urgent Email Before Lunar New Year
Two weeks before the Lunar New Year holiday, when most factories in China were preparing to close, we received an urgent message from our U.S. customer, Kristina.
One of the three jewelry items in her recent order — a bone-shaped pendant — had not arrived. Her store needed the product immediately for restocking.
Time was critical.
With the holiday approaching, production capacity across the country was tightening. Any delay could mean weeks of waiting — especially when working with an overseas CNC machining company during peak season.

Investigation: Following the Data
We immediately reviewed our internal shipment records.
All three products had been packed together and dispatched on the same day under one tracking number. On our end, the shipment was complete.
Instead of making assumptions, we requested full logistics documentation from our freight partner:
-
Original dispatch weight
-
Transit transfer records
-
Final delivery weight in the U.S.
The result was clear.
The original package weight differed from the final recorded delivery weight. The missing weight matched exactly the total weight of the bone pendants.
The shipment had likely been partially lost during international transit.
As a professional CNC machining company, we believe problem-solving must start with data, not assumptions.
Decision: Act First, Investigate Later
At this point, we had two choices:
Wait for a logistics investigation and insurance process,
or
Immediately protect the customer’s business.
We chose the second.
Despite the approaching national holiday, we activated an internal emergency response:
-
Priority production insertion
-
Dedicated QC inspection
-
Expedited international shipment
At the same time, we communicated transparently with the customer, sharing our findings and confirming that we would reproduce the missing items immediately.
No delay. No excuses.
Because a responsible CNC machining company does not hide behind logistics issues — we focus on protecting our customer’s delivery schedule.
Execution: 10 Days Under Pressure
Normally, reproduction and export would require a longer production cycle, especially before a holiday shutdown.
This time, we completed everything in 10 days.
Our production team adjusted schedules.
Our quality team re-inspected each unit.
Our logistics team arranged fast air shipment.
When the new tracking number was sent, the replacement order was already on its way.
Operational flexibility is one of the core strengths customers look for when selecting a long-term CNC machining company for their projects.
Outcome: A Crisis That Strengthened Partnership
The original shipment was officially declared lost by the carrier.
However, by then, the customer had already received the replacement products.
During the holiday break, we received a message:
“We have received the new bone pendants. Thank you very much for handling this so quickly.”
What could have become a supply chain dispute instead became a stronger business relationship.
What This Case Demonstrates
In global supply chains, unexpected issues can happen.

-
Data-based problem analysis
-
Transparent communication
-
Immediate corrective action
-
Production flexibility under pressure
At XY-Global, we stand behind every shipment.
